27 Airports Shut, Over 400 Flights Cancelled Amid Airspace Restrictions
Mumbai: As tensions between India and Pakistan escalate following the retaliatory Operation Sindoor, air travel in the region has been severely disrupted. Twenty-seven airports across northern, western, and central India have been closed for commercial operations until 5:29 am on Saturday (May 10), leading to widespread flight cancellations.
Indian airlines cancelled 430 flights on Thursday—approximately 3% of the country’s total scheduled flights—while Pakistani carriers cancelled 147 flights, about 17% of their schedules. According to Flightradar24, civilian air traffic has completely vanished over Pakistan and the western Indian corridor between Kashmir and Gujarat, with most international carriers now rerouting flights through Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

On Wednesday, around 250 flights were cancelled. Air India diverted two international flights en route to Amritsar to Delhi, while American Airlines cancelled its Delhi–New York service.
Meanwhile, Delhi airport has issued an advisory urging passengers to check with their respective airlines for real-time flight status updates.
