Pune, April 14, 2026: Pune is expected to remain free from heatwave conditions over the next couple of days, even as several parts of Maharashtra face warnings of extreme heat.

The India Meteorological Department has issued heatwave alerts for multiple districts across the state, but Pune has not been included in the warning list. Weather officials indicated that although daytime temperatures in the city have been slightly above seasonal averages in recent days, a sharp spike is not anticipated.

Meteorologists have forecast dry weather conditions for the next 48 hours, with no major fluctuations in temperature. Meanwhile, regions such as Sangli, Solapur, Akola, Amravati, and Yavatmal are likely to experience heatwave conditions and have been placed under a cautionary alert.

The warning zone is expected to expand further into parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada before gradually easing after a few days.

Experts attribute the current weather pattern to broader atmospheric systems affecting different parts of the country. In a related update, the IMD’s long-range outlook suggests that Maharashtra may receive below-average rainfall during the upcoming southwest monsoon season, potentially influenced by developing El Niño conditions.

Officials added that a revised monsoon forecast will be released in May, offering more clarity on rainfall trends across the region.
