Pune, May 27, 2026: Commuters and vehicle owners in Pune will now have to pay more for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has announced a fresh hike in CNG prices across its Pune Geographical Area (GA). The revised rates will come into effect from midnight of May 27/28, 2026.

According to the company, the retail selling price (RSP) of CNG has been increased from ₹92.25 per kg to ₹94.75 per kg. The hike of ₹2.50 per kg has been attributed to the steady rise in input gas costs faced by the company in recent weeks.

The latest revision is expected to impact thousands of daily commuters, including autorickshaw drivers, cab operators, private vehicle owners, and public transport services that rely heavily on CNG as an economical fuel alternative. Pune has witnessed a significant increase in the number of CNG-powered vehicles over the past few years.

MNGL stated that the decision to revise prices was unavoidable due to increasing procurement and operational expenses. The company periodically reviews fuel prices based on market conditions and input costs.

Despite the hike, CNG continues to remain comparatively cheaper and more environment-friendly than conventional fuels such as petrol and diesel. However, regular increases in fuel prices are likely to add to the financial burden on daily commuters and transport operators in the city.
