Navi Mumbai, June 9: A 28-year-old man from Pune district has been reported missing after he allegedly entered the sea from the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), popularly known as Atal Setu, in the early hours of Sunday. Despite an extensive search operation involving police and maritime rescue teams, his whereabouts remained unknown as of Monday evening.
The missing individual is a resident of Ranjangaon in Shirur taluka of Pune district and is reportedly associated with a stock market training venture. Concerned family members approached the Ulwe Police after he failed to return home, leading to the registration of a missing person complaint.
According to preliminary investigations, the man had informed his family on Saturday night that he was heading out for dinner before leaving in his car. Subsequent inquiries revealed that he drove onto Atal Setu and stopped his vehicle on the bridge.
Police officials examining CCTV footage and other evidence believe he may have entered the sea around 1:29 a.m. on Sunday. However, authorities have clarified that the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation and no definitive conclusion has been reached.
Since Sunday, multiple agencies, including police personnel and maritime rescue units, have been carrying out coordinated search efforts in the surrounding waters and nearby coastal areas. The operation continued throughout Monday, but no trace of the missing man had been found.
Investigators are also reviewing available evidence and reconstructing his movements in the hours leading up to his disappearance as part of the ongoing probe.
