How to complete KYC for FASTags? New Rules, Read on to check status and avoid black listing.
FASTag Annual Pass: How to Activate It on Your Existing Account – A Complete Guide
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has taken a decisive step to address irregularities related to FASTags, announcing that all FASTags with incomplete Know Your Customer (KYC) will be deactivated or blacklisted by issuing banks after January 31.
Recent reports revealed instances of multiple FASTags being issued for a single vehicle and the distribution of FASTags without adhering to KYC guidelines. Out of approximately seven crore issued FASTags, only four crores are active, with an alarming 1.2 crores identified as duplicates.
NHAI is urging users to adopt the ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ principle, emphasizing that linking multiple electronic toll collection tools to a single vehicle is against the established norms. To enforce this, FASTags with incomplete KYC will be rendered inactive or blacklisted by banks post-January 31.
To ensure compliance and avoid inconvenience, users can check their FASTag status on the dedicated website: fastag.ihmcl.com.
By logging in using your registered mobile number and accessing the “My Profile” section by entering OTP, users can verify their KYC status and update any pending details by January 31.
Documents Required for KYC Update
Users must adhere to RBI guidelines for FASTag KYC updates, providing documents such as the vehicle registration certificate, identity proof, address proof, and a passport-size photo. Acceptable documents include Passport, Voter’s ID, Aadhar Card, Driving Licence, PAN Card, and NREGA Job Card.
Online KYC Update Process
The KYC update process can be completed online on the FASTag dedicated website. Users should visit the “My Profile” section, open the “KYC” sub-section, and submit the required identity and address proof documents. After uploading a passport-sized photo and confirming the declaration, the KYC verification process will be completed within a maximum of seven working days.
User Compliance and Discard
Users are advised to comply with the ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ directive and discard any previously issued FASTags through their respective banks. NHAI emphasizes that only the latest FASTag account will remain active, as earlier tags will face deactivation or blacklisting after January 31, 2024.
