Bengaluru: 25-Year-Old Dance Instructor Found Dead, Tied to Chair and Suffocated; Husband Arrested
According to the police complaint, Navyashree expressed concerns about her safety to her friends the day before she was found dead. She had been married to Kiran for three years, and the couple had recently been experiencing domestic disputes.
A man in Bengaluru has been detained by police on allegations of murdering his wife, according to an official statement released on Wednesday. The victim, a 25-year-old dance instructor named Navyashree, was discovered dead in her apartment. Her friend, who had been with her the previous night, reported that she had been strangled.
Navyashree had been living with her husband, Kiran, in SMV Layout, Kengeri Upanagara, for the past three years. On the morning of August 27, Navyashree sent a message to her friend Aishwarya, who later arrived at Navyashree’s home around 4:30 pm. Upon arrival, Navyashree confided in Aishwarya that she was facing significant distress both at home and outside.
Concerned for her safety, Navyashree also contacted another friend, Anil, asking to meet. The three of them met later that evening, during which Anil suggested Navyashree consider filing a complaint against her husband to seek police intervention for their marital problems.
After dropping Anil off, Navyashree and Aishwarya returned to Navyashree’s home around 11:30 pm and went to sleep. The following morning, Aishwarya, who had consumed alcohol the night before, woke up to find Navyashree dead. She quickly alerted neighbors and called the police control room.
Investigators suspect that Kiran, who reportedly harbored suspicions about his wife, may have used a spare key to enter the apartment and commit the murder. Sources indicate that Navyashree was tied to a chair, tortured, and subsequently killed.
Following Aishwarya’s complaint, Kiran has been taken into custody. The Kengeri Police have registered a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
