Bengaluru, known for its tech-forward culture, recently witnessed a unique innovation by an Uber driver named Durai.
Parth Parmar, a techie, shared his extraordinary experience when he booked an Uber from Marathahalli to HSR Layout and discovered a custom-designed paddle shifter on the driver’s dashboard. The inventive creation aimed to alleviate the driver’s shoulder pain during gear changes.
Upon inquiry, Durai, the Uber driver, explained to Parmar that the device was a self-designed paddle shifter. Durai, facing shoulder pain, transformed the stick behind the steering wheel into a paddle shifter. This contraption, connected with a chip, activated relays that drove the motor assembly to facilitate gear shifts.
Impressively, Durai managed to create this innovative solution at a mere cost of Rs 9,000. Parmar’s tweet expressing admiration for Durai’s creation gained attention on social media, lauding the driver’s resourcefulness and DIY spirit.
