The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to commence the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams for the 2024-25 academic session on Saturday, February 15. This year, a record 42 lakh students will be taking part in the exams, which will be held at 7,842 centres across India and 26 countries worldwide.

CBSE Board Exams 2025: Key Details

As per CBSE data, a total of 24,12,072 Class 10 students will be appearing for exams in 84 subjects, while 17,88,165 Class 12 students will sit for papers in 120 subjects. The overall count of 42,00,237 students marks a significant increase of 3,14,695 candidates compared to last year’s figure of 38,85,542.

Exam Day Guidelines for Class 10 and 12 Students

On the first day of the exams:

  • Class 10 students will take English (Communicative) and English (Language & Literature) papers.
  • Class 12 students will appear for the Entrepreneurship paper.
  • The exams will be held from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, with strict entry rules in place.
  • Students must arrive by 10:00 AM, as late entry will not be allowed.
  • Candidates cannot leave the exam hall before 1:30 PM.

To ensure smooth conduct:

  • Regular students must carry their admit cards and school ID cards and wear their school uniforms.
  • Private candidates must bring their admit cards and a government-issued photo ID.
  • Prohibited items include mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, earphones, wallets, and handbags.

CBSE Ensures Enhanced Security Measures

CBSE Chairperson Rahul Singh emphasized the importance of fair and transparent exams. “CBSE has been continuously improving its examination processes, from preparing model question papers to ensuring the safe transport of actual exam papers,” he stated.

CBSE Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj added that CCTV surveillance would be in place at exam centres to curb malpractice. Each exam room will accommodate 24 students, monitored by two invigilators. Schools failing to provide CCTV footage upon request will be considered involved in unfair practices.

CBSE Exam Schedule and Result Updates

The Class 10 board exams will conclude on March 18, while the Class 12 exams will end on April 4. CBSE has also simplified mark verification and re-evaluation, allowing students to request photocopies of their answer sheets before applying for a re-evaluation.
