The advisory widely circulated on X (formerly Twitter) highlights ‘Dos and Don’ts’ for digital conduct, warning against sharing troop movements, unverified claims, or any content inciting communal unrest. In a sweeping move for national security,
MeitY has also directed OTT platforms and streaming services to immediately suspend all content of Pakistani origin, including films, web series, songs, and podcasts.
Key Points:
- Fake news & unverified posts must be avoided and reported.
- Troop movements must not be shared online.
- All Pakistani-origin streaming content to be removed.
- Cybersecurity precautions are crucial in this volatile period.
Military Context:
The Indian Army confirmed that Pakistan launched drone and artillery attacks across the western border during the night of May 8–9, 2025, triggering multiple ceasefire violations (CFVs) along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. India responded with strength, successfully repelling the attacks.
Airports and key state areas are under heightened security, with some flight disruptions reported.
