Exercise TOPCHI, the Annual Firepower Training Exercise of the Regiment of Artillery was conducted by the School of Artillery at Devlali Field Firing Ranges on 21 January 2025.

The event was conducted under the stewardship of Lieutenant General Navneet Singh Sarna, Commandant School of Artillery and was witnessed by student officers of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Defence Services Technical Staff Course, Pune, Nepal Army Staff Course Students, Cadets from training academies, senior dignitaries, serving officers from Indian army and civil administration.

The Exercise showcased the integrated employment of a wide range of firepower and surveillance assets to include guns, mortars, rockets, Army Aviation assets and paratroopers.  The event’s highlight was the awe-inspiring live firing of state-of-the art Artillery Gun Systems, including K-9 Vajra SP Gun System, 155mm M777 ULH, 155mm Dhanush, 155mm FH 77B02 (Bofors). Adding to the spectacle was the display of cutting-edge technologies such as Pinaka, Smerch, Swarm Drones, Loitering Munitions and advanced drone capabilities.

The Exercise reaffirmed the commitment of the Indian Army to remain prepared for any operational challenge while promoting indigenous defense capabilities in line with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Exercise Topchi is a testimony to the professionalism of the Gunners and recently acquired state-of-the-art indigenous integrated surveillance and firepower capabilities of the Indian Army.
