Fatal Crash Near Manchar on Pune–Nashik Highway Claims Three Lives; Two Children Critically Injured
Manchar (Pune), March 23, 2026: A tragic road accident occurred near Eklahare village close to Manchar on the Pune Nashik Highway, resulting in the death of three members of a single family and leaving two children critically injured.
According to initial reports, the accident took place late at night when a car rammed into the rear of a luxury bus with great force. The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled.
In the incident, three occupants of the car identified as members of the same family, including a mother, father, and grandmother died on the spot. Two young children travelling in the same vehicle sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to the Rural Sub-District Hospital in Manchar, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Emergency services and local authorities promptly reached the accident site to carry out rescue operations and clear the traffic congestion caused by the crash.
Meanwhile, residents of the Eklahare area have expressed growing concern over the increasing number of accidents reported on this stretch of the highway. Locals have demanded immediate safety measures, including better traffic management and road infrastructure improvements, to prevent further loss of lives.
Police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
