Pune – On October 8, 2024, at 11:42 AM, a distress call was received about a man who had locked himself inside his house and turned on the gas cylinder, creating a dangerous situation at Tamboli House, Maharshinagar. Two fire brigade vehicles from the central fire station and Gangadham fire station were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the firefighters learned that a man living on the second floor of a three-story building had lost his mental balance. He had left the gas stove on and was throwing household items from the terrace. Understanding the gravity of the situation, the firefighters set up a safety net below, while some personnel attempted to reach the terrace.

Using tools like spreaders and hammers, they broke the door to enter, though the man resisted their efforts. The firefighters first turned off the gas stove and removed the gas cylinder, eliminating the immediate danger. As the man was not in a state to listen, they managed to safely rescue him using ropes with the help of the police. The entire operation, which lasted about an hour, successfully averted a major disaster.

Fire officers Subhash Jadhav, Pradip Khedekar, Sunil Naikanavare, Prashant Gaykar, driver Hanumant Koli, Nilesh Kadam, and team members Rahul Nalawade, Vinayak Mali, Ketan Narke, Atul Khopde, Swaylilal Chavan, Suresh Suryavanshi, Dhiraj Jadhav, Hemant Shinde, Harshad Sonawane, Mahesh Ghatmal, Sainath Pawar, and Aniket Khedekar played key roles in this operation.
