“I was so scared initially when I would design the sarees.I would wonder if people would even like my sarees,” says Radhika Munshi.
A founder with degrees from two of India’s premier institutions has left her lucrative corporate position to launch her own saree brand. We are referring to Radhika Munshi, the visionary behind Anorah, a brand dedicated to revolutionizing the saree-shopping experience for modern women.
Munshi launched her own business in 2023 and has since experienced significant success, with numerous customers returning for her sarees.
In a series of Instagram posts, Munshi shared her reasons for pursuing entrepreneurship following her education at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad—prestigious institutions that typically pave the way for a successful career in executive leadership.
Munshi asserts that no salary, regardless of its size, can match the excitement of entrepreneurship, where each day presents new challenges.
She acknowledged that, being among the top students in her MBA program, her primary goal was to secure the highest salary package upon graduation. At that time, the idea of launching her own saree brand was not even on her radar.
“I was the topper at IIM Ahmedabad and at that point, I wanted the highest package. But life takes unexpected turns.. and I’m so happy mine turned out this way. After following the classic Indian path of studying at IIT and then IIM, I decided to take the plunge to follow my dreams,” she writes in her posts.
In her previous posts, Munshi candidly discussed the societal judgments she encountered regarding her career choices, as well as her personal insecurities. Ultimately, she made the decision to leave a stable and lucrative position to pursue her entrepreneurial ambitions.
“The life of an entrepreneur is filled with ups and downs and even the highest pay check could never match the thrill that this journey brings. The love that I have received is extremely overwhelming. When we read the DMs on how much our customers love our sarees, it just fills our hearts with so much pride,” she adds.
