Pune to Shirur Elevated Road Project Initiated by MSRDC. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has taken the first step towards constructing an elevated road along the Pune to Shirur stretch, which is part of the Pune to Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) route. The 53-kilometer stretch will be developed under the Design, Finance, Build, Operate, and Transfer (DFBOT) model through a public-private partnership (PPP). MSRDC has invited expressions of interest for the project.

Project Details

The elevated road is expected to ease traffic congestion on Pune-Nagar Road and improve connectivity between Pune and Shirur. MSRDC has extended the deadline for submitting bids, with February 28 as the final date.

The state government has undertaken the Pune-Sambhajinagar NH 753F highway improvement project. In the first phase, a 53-kilometer elevated road from Pune to Shirur will be constructed, followed by improvements to the Ahilyanagar to Devgad Road.

Shirur to Sambhajinagar Greenfield Highway Proposal

MSRDC has also proposed a new Greenfield highway from Shirur to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The entire Pune-Sambhajinagar highway will span 250 kilometers, with the Pune to Shirur stretch featuring an elevated road built over the existing highway.

Project Cost and Connectivity

The project is estimated to cost ₹20,000 crore. The highway will be linked to the Samruddhi Mahamarg at the Shendra MIDC region, further enhancing regional connectivity.
