HDFC Bank staff member collapses at work, colleagues blame excessive stress
A woman working at HDFC Bank in Lucknow allegedly died from work-related stress on Tuesday, just days after a similar tragedy involving an Ernst & Young employee in Pune. The employee, Sadaf Fatima, held the position of additional deputy vice-president at the bank’s Vibuti Khand branch in Gomti Nagar.
According to a News18 report, Fatima collapsed in her office after falling off her chair, as shared by unnamed colleagues. She was quickly taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead, and her body was sent for a postmortem examination.
In response to the incident, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav commented that the pressure and stress at work have become prevalent across both government and private sectors, with individuals feeling compelled to work under these conditions.

The SP chief criticized finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s recent comments suggesting that young people under work pressure need lessons in stress management. He stated, “Instead of improving working conditions, the BJP minister, who is advising the youth to build resilience against pressure, is only adding to their distress in this sorrowful environment. If her government cannot provide any relief or improvements, then it should refrain from doing so. The government should not exacerbate public anger with its callous and insensitive advice in light of this incident.”
