Heavy vehicle ban comes into effect on a trial basis in Kondhwa and Undri

The city traffic police has banned the movement of heavy vehicles from Undri Chowk to Kadnagar Chowk and from Jyoti Hotel to Pargenagar junction in Kondhwa from 6 am to 12 pm and from 4 pm to 9 pm from Wednesday on an experimental basis for 15 days.

Speaking about this, police inspector Rajendra Shelke said, “For the next few days there will be traffic on the route. But soon motorists will be able to follow the new system. We have also written to PMC to put up boards to indicate the restricted timing for heavy vehicles which would assist us to regulate the traffic better. Motorists should drive in a disciplined way so that there is no congestion on the restricted routes.”

Police have banned heavy vehicles passing from Bishop School and NIBM Road and from IshratBaugh, Orchid Palace housing society. The police have also banned heavy vehicles from NIBM Road to S M Ghule Patil Chowk.
Resident Riyaz Nathani said, “Heavy vehicles proceeding to NIBM Chowk often break down on the gradient on NIBM-Undri road due to which huge traffic jams occur.”

Heavy vehicles will be diverted via an alternative route from NIBM Road, Ishrant Baugh, Kadnagar and Bishop School.
