Mother files police complaint after teacher allegedly made suggestive comments to Class 8 girl.

A Physical Training (PT) teacher at Shri Sant Tukaram Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Pune has been booked for allegedly making inappropriate and suggestive comments to a 14-year-old girl during a class. The incident took place on July 1 during an indoor PT session, and the complaint was registered on July 3 at Chandan Nagar Police Station under the Child Welfare Unit.

The accused teacher, Mangesh Borate, allegedly made a series of disturbing remarks while addressing students about fitness. According to the student’s mother, Borate reportedly said, “If boys build good bodies, girls will look at them,” and “If girls exercise well, boys will propose to them.” He went on to teach the students how to propose, hug, and give chocolates, even asking, “Tera boyfriend hai kya?” and “Tera lafda hai kya kiske sathme?”—questions that deeply disturbed the girl.

The complainant, a 34-year-old resident of Khandave Nagar, said her daughter had only recently joined the school on June 16. On July 1, during a PT class at 1:45 PM, the child was reportedly singled out by the teacher when she didn’t laugh at his comments like the rest of the class. He allegedly asked her to stand and questioned her about whether she had a boyfriend, leaving her feeling humiliated.

Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakne confirmed the filing of the complaint, stating that the student was distressed and embarrassed by the teacher’s remarks, prompting her mother to seek police action.

Borate has been associated with the school since 2006, initially as a peon. He later qualified to become a PT teacher in 2012 and had served in that role without prior complaints, until now. He has since been detained and will be presented in court. Police have confirmed that the case is under investigation, and appropriate action will follow based on the findings.
