Lara Dutta Stranded In Dubai Amid West Asia Tensions, Praises UAE For Protecting Residents
Actor says the situation is stressful but she has felt safe; currently trying to find flights back to Mumbai with daughter
Bollywood actor Lara Dutta has revealed that she is currently stranded in Dubai with her daughter amid rising tensions in West Asia. Sharing her experience through a video on social media, the actor said the past few days have been stressful but she still feels safe in the city.
Lara explained that she has been in Dubai since the start of the ongoing conflict in the region and was shooting at a studio when she first experienced the tense situation.
Explosions Heard During Shoot
According to Lara, the incident happened on February 28 while she was filming in Dubai. She said the crew suddenly heard loud explosions during the shoot.
“We started hearing explosions overhead, ran out of the studio, and saw missiles being intercepted,” she said in the video.
She also described seeing fighter jets flying overhead and hearing repeated loud booms, which caused windows and doors in her home to shake.
“It’s been a few stressful days. There are lots of fighter jets flying overhead and loud booms. The windows shake and the doors rattle. It’s unnerving,” she said.
‘Unnerving But Not Unsafe’
Despite the tense atmosphere, Lara emphasised that she has not felt unsafe even once in Dubai. She said the UAE authorities have been making strong efforts to ensure residents remain protected.
“The UAE government has done an incredible job. We feel really looked after and protected regardless of our nationality,” she said.
Lara added that the environment reminds her of how governments can protect their people during difficult situations.
“We feel like we count and we matter. The government is doing everything in its power to keep us safe,” she said.
Emotional Message About Ordinary Workers
The actor also expressed admiration for people continuing their daily work despite the tense situation.
She noted that delivery riders and other workers are still operating normally, ensuring people receive food and essential supplies.
“I have so much respect and admiration for ordinary people who don’t have the option of leaving and are keeping this country running,” she said emotionally.
Looking For Flights Back To India
Lara also shared that she is trying to arrange flights to return to Mumbai with her daughter Saira.
She said flights are limited but some options from airlines such as Emirates and Etihad are still available.
According to the actor, the decision to return is mainly because children are finding the situation more stressful.
“We are looking for flights to get back to Mumbai. The kids are a lot more nervous about this. As adults, we try to stay calm for them,” she said.
Lara has been spending considerable time in Dubai over the past few years, where she has been living and working with her family.
