Maharashtra Streamlines Transport Vehicle Registration At Dealer Points, Reduces RTO Visits
Transport vehicles in Maharashtra can now be registered directly at automobile dealerships, eliminating the need for visits to the Regional Transport Office (RTO). This move aims to simplify the registration process for around 7 to 8 lakh transport vehicles registered annually in the state. Previously, only non-transport vehicles enjoyed dealer-based registration, but now transport vehicles, such as commercial trucks and buses, will also benefit from this streamlined system.
The announcement was made by Vivek Bhimanwar, Maharashtra State’s Transport Commissioner, via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle. He highlighted the efficiency of this new system, which is expected to save time and reduce congestion at RTO offices.
He stated, “Now most of the Transport Vehicles in Maharashtra can be Registered with Automobile dealers. No need to come to RTO office. Around 7 lakh to 8 lakh vehicles in this category are registered in Maharashtra every year. Non Transport Vehicles are already registered at dealer point.”
