Flight Disruptions Ahead: Mumbai’s CSMIA to Temporarily Halt Operations for Maintenance

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) is gearing up for its annual pre-monsoon maintenance and repair work, impacting flight operations scheduled for the 9th of May, 2024.

In preparation for this essential maintenance, both runways—RWY 09/27 and 14/32—will undergo temporary closure from 11:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs. This routine upkeep is vital to uphold the safety and efficiency standards of airport operations, particularly during the forthcoming monsoon season.

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued to notify all relevant parties about the temporary shutdown. Passengers are strongly advised to remain updated on the status of their flights by consulting with their respective airlines. It is imperative to confirm any alterations to their flight schedules due to the temporary runway closure. The annual closure of both runways forms part of CSMIA’s ongoing efforts to maintain operational continuity and uphold stringent safety protocols.

Following the completion of the maintenance tasks, normal operations are set to resume post 17:00 hrs on the 9th of May, 2024.

CSMIA’s proactive approach to maintenance underscores its commitment to ensuring seamless airport operations, particularly in the face of challenging weather conditions like the monsoon. Passengers are urged to plan their travel accordingly and stay abreast of any updates pertaining to their travel arrangements on the specified date.

While the temporary suspension of runway operations may pose some inconvenience, it remains an indispensable measure aimed at guaranteeing the safety and reliability of operations at Mumbai’s international airport.
