A notorious burglar involved in multiple thefts in rural areas has been arrested by the local crime investigation branch, recovering stolen property worth ₹16 lakh. The suspect, identified as Lakhan Ashok Kulkarni, alias Sachin Raju Mane (31, resident of Mangalwedha, Solapur), had been recently released on bail and returned to crime, targeting four locked houses in the Shripatinagar area of Bhor on January 13.

Police Superintendent Pune Rural Pankaj Deshmukh disclosed the details during a press briefing, accompanied by Additional Superintendent Ramesh Chopde and Senior Inspector Avinash Shilimkar of the local crime branch.

The investigation began after the Shripatinagar burglary case, where four houses were broken into simultaneously. CCTV footage from the vicinity showed Mane scouting the area several days before committing the theft. Acting on intelligence, the police learned that Mane was traveling towards Pune in a car from Shirwal. A trap was laid in the Sasewadi area, leading to his arrest.

Mane was found carrying an Aadhaar card under the name Lakhan Ashok Kulkarni but operated under the alias Sachin Mane. Police seized goods and a vehicle amounting to ₹16.58 lakh.

The arrested burglar has over 50 cases registered against him across Gujarat, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. He previously served a seven-year sentence for burglary in Karnataka.

The operation was led by a team including Police Superintendent Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional Superintendent Ganesh Biradar, Sub-Divisional Officer Tanaji Barde, Inspector Avinash Shilimkar, Inspector Annasaheb Pawar, and Assistant Inspector Dattajirao Mohite, with support from personnel Balasaheb Khadke, Amol Shedge, Mangesh Bhagat, Mahesh Bankar, Mangesh Thigale, Vijay Kanchan, Dheeraj Jadhav, Ajit Bhujbal, Kashinath Rajapure, Ketan Khande, and Atul More.

Mane’s history of burglaries and criminal activities highlights his involvement in significant thefts across various states, underlining the coordinated effort of law enforcement to apprehend him.
