Over 200 Unauthorized Vendors Cleared in Pune’s Nagar Road as Part of PMC’s Crackdown
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has ramped up its anti-encroachment drive in the Nagar Road area following orders from the Municipal Commissioner Dr Rajendra Bhosale. Over three days, more than 200 unauthorized vendors and structures have been cleared by the officials. The targeted areas included Mantri Market, Kharadi Bypass, and Tadivala Road.
At Mantri Market and Kharadi Bypass, 102 unauthorized entities, including handcarts, stalls, counters, and huts, were removed. On Wednesday afternoon, 30 illegal stalls in front of Gera Barclays, near Kharadi IT Park, were demolished using JCB machines.
The anti-encroachment teams also acted in the Tadivala Road, Dhole Patil Road, and Saurabh Hall areas. Here, 72 illegal handcarts, stalls, counters, and huts were cleared. The drive, led by PMC’s Circle 1 Deputy Commissioner, saw active participation from the Building Control and Encroachment Departments. Junior engineers Mangesh Gaikwad and Umesh Godge from the Building Control Department and Subhash Talekar, regional encroachment inspector, supervised the operations.

The crackdown left unauthorized vendors shaken as authorities showed no leniency. The PMC aims to maintain the momentum of these actions to curb unauthorized activities in public spaces.
The joint effort included officials and staff from all three regional offices. The PMC has reiterated its commitment to removing encroachments and ensuring a cleaner and organized city.
