Pimpri: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) intensified its ongoing crackdown on illegal encroachments in the Chikhali–Kudalwadi area for the third consecutive day. Under this continued operation, 682 unauthorized structures were cleared today, covering approximately 33.58 lakh square feet of construction.

This large-scale initiative targets unauthorized sheds, factories, warehouses, scrap shops, and illegal buildings erected on land reserved for future city development and public amenities. Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh and Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Chaube are jointly overseeing the drive.

Today’s action was coordinated by the PCMC’s Building Permission and Unauthorized Construction Control Department, along with zonal rapid response teams. Additional Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Deputy Commissioner Manoj Lonkar, Special Officer Kiran Gaikwad, Zonal Officers Rajesh Agale, Sucheta Pansare, Amit Pandit, Kishor Nanavare, Umesh Dhakane, Ajinkya Yele, and Shital Wakade took part in the operation, supported by Executive Engineers, Deputy Engineers, Junior Engineers, and other personnel.

Under the supervision of senior police officers—including Additional Police Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi and Deputy Commissioners of Police Swpana Gore, Dr. Shivaji Pawar, Sandeep Doiphode, and Vivek Patil—security was strengthened in the area. Around 600 police officers, 180 personnel from the Maharashtra Security Force, and additional labor staff joined forces with PCMC teams. Heavy machinery, including 16 excavators, 8 JCBs, 1 crane, and 4 cutters, was deployed for demolition. Standby firefighting vehicles and ambulances were also stationed on-site.
