PCMC Removes Seven Illegal Religious Structures In Kudalwadi-Chikhali During Late-Night Enforcement Drive
Pimpri-Chinchwad, June 9, 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) conducted a major demolition operation in Kudalwadi and Chikhali during the early hours of Monday, removing seven religious structures that officials said had been erected without the required permissions.
According to civic authorities, the action involved the demolition of three mosques and four temples identified as unauthorized constructions. The operation was carried out overnight to ensure smooth execution and maintain law and order.
A large security presence was deployed during the drive. Teams from PCMC’s C Regional Ward Office, Building Permission Department, anti-encroachment squad, Maharashtra State Security Force (MSSF), and local police worked together to carry out the operation.
Officials stated that the latest action forms part of the corporation’s ongoing campaign against illegal constructions across the city. Similar action had been taken in Kudalwadi in May, when two unauthorized religious structures were removed by civic authorities.
Kudalwadi has remained a focus area for anti-encroachment drives in recent years. In February 2025, PCMC undertook a large-scale operation spanning nearly 850 acres, during which warehouses, scrap businesses, temporary sheds and other unauthorized structures were cleared over a period of 15 days.
The civic body has also targeted constructions in environmentally sensitive zones. In May 2025, authorities demolished 36 unauthorized residential units in the River Residency project at Chikhali after finding that the structures had been built within the blue flood line of the Indrayani River.
Municipal officials said the corporation will continue taking action against illegal developments as part of its efforts to enforce planning regulations, protect public land and ensure orderly urban growth in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
