The Prime Minister advised people to keep themselves hydrated at all times and carry water whenever they step outside their homes. He also stressed the importance of avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, especially during afternoon hours when temperatures peak.

Highlighting the dangers posed by severe heat conditions, PM Modi urged citizens not to ignore symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, nausea and excessive fatigue. He cautioned that these signs could lead to serious health complications like heatstroke if immediate care is not provided.

He advised people to quickly shift anyone feeling unwell to a cool or shaded area and provide water, ORS or other fluids to help the body recover from heat exhaustion.

The Prime Minister particularly mentioned that children, elderly citizens and people working outdoors are among the most vulnerable during such extreme weather conditions.

PM Modi also appealed to citizens to regularly check on elderly family members and relatives during the heatwave. He encouraged people to stay connected with parents, grandparents and loved ones to ensure their safety and well-being.

“Whenever possible, make it a point to call your parents, grandparents and other loved ones to inquire about their well-being,” he said while advising people to avoid unnecessary outdoor movement during the hottest part of the day.

Apart from human safety, the Prime Minister also highlighted the need to care for birds and stray animals suffering due to the harsh summer conditions. He encouraged people to keep bowls of water outside homes, balconies, shops and offices so that birds and animals can find relief from the extreme heat.

“In these difficult days, let us look after one another with complete sensitivity and compassion,” he added.

The Prime Minister’s appeal comes amid warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has predicted severe heatwave conditions in several states over the next few days.
