PM Modi Promises Rapid Development for Pune, Highlights Key Projects
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally at SP College grounds in Pune on Tuesday, promised swift progress for the city over the next five years. He assured voters that the Mahayuti government would focus on improving Pune’s infrastructure and connectivity to make it a 21st-century city.
Modi was joined by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, and all 11 candidates from Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad constituencies. He began his speech by thanking the citizens for supporting the BJP’s vision and pledged to work for the city’s growth.
Modi highlighted the importance of investment in infrastructure, industry, and startups. He noted a significant increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) over the last decade, with Maharashtra leading in investments. The Prime Minister emphasized Pune’s booming electronics and IT sectors, adding that these expansions have created numerous job opportunities.
To boost Pune’s startup ecosystem, a special fund of Rs 1,000 crore has been allocated, along with a PM package aimed at youth employment. Modi also discussed the expansion of Pune’s metro network, mentioning the operational Civil Court to Swargate route and ongoing work on the Swargate to Katraj route.
He announced major infrastructure projects, including Rs 40,000 crore for the inner ring roads, Rs 10,500 crore for the outer ring road, and Rs 6,500 crore for the missing link of the expressway between Khopoli and Khandala. He also noted progress on the Palkhi Marg project, with Rs 11,500 crore allocated to benefit pilgrims.
During the rally, a man was briefly detained for demanding Maratha reservation but was later released. Traffic measures were put in place, but no major disruptions were reported.
