Mumbai, July 3: A development plan is being prepared for the 32 villages newly included in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits through the PMC and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).

Minister Uday Samant informed the Legislative Council that this initiative aims to provide these villages with essential infrastructure and ensure developmental justice.

Member Yogesh Tilekar raised an attention motion regarding the creation of a new municipal corporation for East Pune by bifurcating PMC after 32 adjoining villages were merged into the civic limits. Responding to this, Minister Uday Samant outlined the measures being undertaken for the development of these villages.

Minister Samant stated that the development plan for 11 of these villages was being prepared by PMC. Since the deadline for this plan has lapsed, the state government is now taking the matter forward. Additionally, the development plan for the remaining 23 villages is being prepared by PMRDA.

The government is working to provide these villages with water supply, electricity, roads, solid waste management, sewage treatment plants, and other amenities to ensure their holistic development, he added.
