In an important move for passenger safety, Pune Airport has installed six mobile Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at various key spots in the new terminal, including both arrival and departure areas. Aviation expert Dhairyasheel Vandekar, who sees it as a vital advancement in the airport’s emergency medical response capabilities.
Dhairyasheel Vandekar, expressed his happiness by saying, “I am extremely pleased to learn that the Airports Authority of India has installed six mobile life-saving AEDs at various passenger locations, including arrivals and departures, in the new terminal. I have been advocating for this for quite some time with both the Pune Airport Director and the Airports Authority of India. My persistence led to an AED being provided at the old terminal last October. Your newspaper has been a great support in my efforts for this crucial public cause. The installation of these life-saving AEDs in the new terminal building at Pune Airport is a result of our combined efforts.”
“Knowing that life-saving AEDs are now available at Pune Airport will certainly make passengers feel more relaxed and secure while traveling. This addition is crucial, as it provides immediate assistance in the event of a cardiac emergency. I urge the Pune Airport Director to ensure that all airport staff, including operators, airlines, CISF personnel, and employees at commercial outlets like lounges and shops, receive proper training on how to use these mobile AEDs. This way, the equipment can effectively fulfill its purpose when needed,” added Vandekar.
