Team WACO (Wagholi Against Corruption Organization) has filed a writ petition in the High Court, challenging the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) collection of property taxes in Wagholi. The organization argues that residents should not be obligated to pay taxes when basic infrastructure, such as roads, water supply, and drainage systems, remains severely underdeveloped.

Anil Kumar Mishra, President of Team WACO, voiced the group’s frustration over PMC’s neglect. “For years, we have raised these issues. Despite organizing four major protests demanding better infrastructure, the PMC has failed to address our concerns,” Mishra stated. “Wagholi continues to suffer from broken roads, inconsistent water supply, and a non-existent drainage system.”

Mishra emphasized the group’s slogan: “No Road, No Water, No Drainage – No Property Tax.” He described the situation as unjust, particularly given Wagholi’s rapid growth and the lack of infrastructure to support the influx of new residents.

As PMC continues issuing property tax notices to Wagholi residents, Team WACO is seeking judicial intervention to halt tax collection until basic services are improved. The petition underscores the residents’ right to proper infrastructure, with Mishra stressing, “We have exhausted peaceful measures, and now we are seeking justice through the courts.”
