Pune: Bombay High Court Grants Bail To Sheetal Tejwani In Mundhwa Land Fraud Case
Bombay High Court Quashes POCSO Case against Pune's Businessman, Orders MacBook For Minor As Part Of ₹1.5 Lakh Cost
Mumbai, June 9, 2026: The Bombay High Court on Monday granted bail to businesswoman Sheetal Tejwani, one of the accused in the controversial Mundhwa land case being investigated by Pune police. The court noted that Tejwani is a single mother responsible for three minor children and has been in judicial custody since December 2025.
With the court’s decision, Tejwani is set to be released from Yerawada Central Jail in Pune after completing the required bail formalities.
The case revolves around the alleged sale of approximately 41 acres of disputed government land in Mundhwa. The land, classified as Mahar Watan land, is subject to legal restrictions and longstanding ownership disputes. Authorities have alleged irregularities in transactions involving the property, leading to multiple criminal investigations.
According to investigators, hundreds of individuals claiming rights over the land allegedly transferred the property to Amadea Enterprises LLP through Tejwani, who acted as their power-of-attorney holder. The company is linked to a prominent political family, with Nationalist Congress Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Parth Pawar holding a majority stake.
Tejwani is facing three criminal cases registered by Pune police, including cases lodged at Khadak and Bavdhan police stations. Her legal team argued before the court that her involvement was limited to executing documents related to the transaction and that she had no role in decisions taken by revenue authorities.
While granting bail, Justice Ashwin D. Bhobe observed that the prosecution’s case is largely based on documentary evidence already in the possession of investigating agencies. The court also noted that there were no allegations of Tejwani failing to cooperate with the investigation. Considering her family responsibilities and the period already spent in custody, the court held that continued incarceration was not necessary while the trial is pending.
The High Court directed Tejwani to furnish a personal bond of ₹2 lakh along with one or two sureties within two weeks as a condition for her release.
