Pune, March 5, 2026: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has summoned R. K. Singh, owner of VSR Company, for questioning in connection with the investigation into the plane crash that claimed the life of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Singh, also known as Rohit Singh, appeared before CID officials at their office in Pune on Thursday. Investigators are expected to question him regarding several allegations raised about the aircraft and its operations prior to the crash.

The controversy intensified after Rohit Pawar, MLA from Karjat-Jamkhed and a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar faction, held multiple press conferences accusing VSR Company and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of withholding crucial information related to the incident.

Some leaders from the Nationalist Congress Party faction led by Ajit Pawar have also supported Rohit Pawar’s demands for a thorough investigation, increasing pressure on the Government of Maharashtra.

Rohit Pawar has alleged that the aircraft’s pilot was changed at the last minute and that the plane was carrying more fuel than necessary. In another controversial claim, some leaders suggested that the pilot, Sumit Kapoor, may have deliberately crashed the aircraft, triggering an explosion.

He has also questioned the role of Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, alleging that the minister may have shielded the company involved.

Reacting to the CID’s move, Rohit Pawar said authorities should immediately seize all documents related to VSR Company, alleging that the firm has significant influence and could tamper with evidence.

With Singh now appearing before investigators, attention has shifted to the statement he will record with the CID as the probe into the crash continues.
