Heavy monsoon rains have prompted authorities in Pune district to issue a Red Alert for the next 48 hours. The weather department forecasts incessant rainfall over the region, necessitating precautionary measures. Tourist spots deemed vulnerable are ordered shut until further notice, along with closure of all risky bridges, as confirmed by District Collector Suhas Divase.

Suhas Diwase briefed the press on the current situation earlier today. Rainfall recorded until noon stands at 65 mm, with Mulshi recording the highest at 484 mm. The increased rainfall has raised water levels at Khadakwasla Dam. Pune Municipal Corporation’s fire and rescue teams are actively engaged in rescue operations. Both the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister have been co-ordinating efforts since morning.
Furthermore, liaison has been established with the military and navy for assistance. Local residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. The administration urges everyone to adhere to safety protocols and stay updated with official announcements.
