The Hinjawadi police have registered a case following a viral video of a car accident in Wakad that injured a 23-year-old woman. The incident took place on May 23 around 4:30 PM near Mauli Snacks shop, close to the Wakad flyover on the Hinjewadi-Wakad road. The video, which gained significant attention on social media, prompted the complainant to come forward.

The police have booked the driver, Tushar Nemade, under sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code, and sections 184 and 119/177 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The complaint was filed by Utkarsh Sanjay Singh Pardeshi, a 23-year-old resident of Pune Camp, originally from Kadrabad, Jalna. The injured pedestrian is Utkarsh’s sister, Akanksha.

Initially, Utkarsh did not file a complaint, but after the CCTV footage surfaced, the police reached out to him, leading to the registration of the case. The footage shows Akanksha walking when Nemade’s car hits her from behind, throwing her a considerable distance and crashing into a shop.

Utkarsh stated, “My sister received minor injuries in the accident. We then went to Mumbai. She is now back to routine, but the doctor has advised her to rest for a few days.”

The incident drew public outcry on social media, particularly because no immediate action was taken. The viral video, coupled with the recent Porsche accident case in Pune, led to increased scrutiny. Following the public response, the Hinjawadi police contacted Utkarsh and promptly registered the case against Nemade.
