Pune – On the morning of July 14, 2024, around 8 AM, a fire broke out in Ward No. 2 of Sassoon Hospital. Upon receiving the report, the fire brigade control room immediately dispatched a fire engine from Kasba Fire Station.

Upon arrival at the scene, the firefighters found that the fire had started in a room in Ward No. 2 (Radiology Department). The staff had initially tried to extinguish the fire using three fire extinguishers. The firefighters then took control of the situation and completely extinguished the fire, eliminating the danger. 

The fire damaged computers, tables, chairs, monitors, printers, fans, routers, and other materials. During the incident, patients in the ward were moved to an adjacent ward. There were no injuries or casualties, and the initial assessment suggests that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.

Driver Sameer Shaikh, Tandel Sanjay Gaikwad, and firemen Shankar Wable and Shubham Deshmukh participated in the operation.
