Pune: Keeping House Key in Shoe Stand Costs Dhayari Family Rs 2.5 Lakhs
A routine mistake turned costly for Baburao Shinde, a rickshaw driver residing in Nisarg Heights, Dhayari, Pune. The family faced a loss of gold worth Rs 2.5 lakhs after Shinde’s house was robbed on September 25.
The Shinde family usually leaves home by 8 AM, and their son locks the door at 11 AM before heading to school. However, Shinde had a habit of keeping the house key in the shoe stand, a fact that did not go unnoticed by a lurking thief. On the day of the incident, the thief retrieved the key from the shoe stand and entered the house, managing to steal three and a half tolas of gold within just 15 minutes.
Shinde’s wife discovered the theft in the evening when she noticed the ring box in the cupboard was open and the gold was missing. The family reviewed the CCTV footage, revealing that a young boy had committed the theft. They immediately approached the police, who have registered a case and are actively searching for the suspect.
The police have advised residents to avoid keeping house keys in easily accessible places and to change locks if a key is misplaced. The Shinde family is hopeful that their hard-earned gold will be recovered soon as the search for the accused continues.
