Pune: Two different drowning incidents at Morjim resulted in the deaths of two tourists on Thursday.
As per information, in the first incident at around 8:30 am a man identified as Faiz Ahmed, from Pune, swept away by a powerful current at Morjim Beach. The deceased was staying at a resort in Morjim.
He had travelled to Goa three days prior with his wife Fatima and their two kids. A lifeguard pulled his corpse out and took it to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Pernem, where an attending physician pronounced him dead.
In the second incident, a Bengaluru resident, identified as Rajesh Sharma, suffered the same fate at the beach. Although the lifeguard tried to save the drowning tourist, his efforts were in vain. Sharma was rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Pernem, where he was declared dead as well. When the tragedy happened, the deceased had gone to his friend’s house in Morjim and was swimming at the beach.
According to police, an unnatural death case has been reported and an investigation is still ongoing.
