In a startling development, a 32-year-old man walked into Yavat Police Station in Pune district on Friday and confessed to killing a woman in the Hadapsar area, prompting authorities to immediately take him into custody and begin an investigation.

The accused, identified as Rahul Shivaji Misal, a resident of Raikar Mala in Yavat and originally from Malshiras in Solapur, told police that he had killed 28-year-old Anita Londhe. Following his confession, police detained him and initiated a probe into the incident.

According to Senior Inspector Sanjay Mogale of Hadapsar Police Station, Misal and Londhe had been living together in a rented house in the Shewalewadi Phata Manjari area for the past two years. “The two were in a live-in relationship. Misal, who works as a daily wage labourer, is suspected to have acted out of jealousy or suspicion over Anita’s character,” Moghale said.
