GBS Outbreak in Pune: Civic Chief Inspects Affected Areas, Health Dept Deploys 85 Survey Teams

On January 23, 2025, the Municipal Commissioner and Additional Municipal Commissioner of Pune visited areas under Sinhagad Road Ward Office jurisdiction. They inspected water supply sources in Nanded Gaon, Kirkatwadi, Nandoshi, and Sanasnagar, including wells, water tanks, and other supply facilities in newly incorporated villages.  

During the visit, the Commissioner personally interacted with residents affected by the GBS outbreak, visited their homes, and met hospitalized patients to assess the situation. Accompanying him were the Deputy Commissioner of Zone 3, Chief Engineer (Water Supply), Superintendent Engineer (Drainage), Chief Medical Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Sinhagad Road Ward Office, and other departmental officials.  

The inspection was also attended by local residents, former and current government-appointed representatives, members of the media, and journalists from the Nanded, Kirkatwadi, Nandoshi, Sanasnagar, and Dhayari areas.  

The Commissioner issued immediate directives to all relevant PMC departments and the Rural District Health Department to implement urgent preventive measures to control the “GBS Outbreak” in the affected regions.
