Pune Municipal Corporation To Launch UMANG Autism Centre and Sensory Park In Balewadi
Pune: In a collaborative initiative aimed at enhancing support for children with autism, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), in association with the Social Welfare Development Department and Siddhivinayak Pratishthan, is all set to launch the UMANG Autism Centre and Sensory Park at Divyang Park, Balewadi High Street, near Cummins IT Park.
The centre, which is expected to open its doors soon, will provide a wide range of developmental therapies and specialized support services designed for children with autism spectrum disorder and sensory integration challenges.
The initiative reflects a strong commitment to inclusive and empathetic care, underlined by the motto that every child carries a unique spark.
UMANG will offer an array of developmental therapy services, including occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, special education, behavioural therapy, and individualized sensory room programs. It will also provide medical and diagnostic consultations, such as pediatric neurological assessments, audiological tests (BERA, OAE), psychological evaluations, and upcoming genetic consultations.
The centre will have a strong focus on early intervention for children aged 0–6 years, offering play-based and counselling sessions tailored to developmental needs. In addition, there will be dedicated services for parents and caregivers, including counselling, skill training, group workshops, and psychoeducation to foster a supportive environment at home.
