Pune: The newly opened terminal at Pune’s Lohgaon International Airport lacks essential facilities such as sanitary napkin vending machines and disposal units for women passengers, raising concerns about hygiene and convenience. In response to the issue, airport authorities have assured that these facilities will soon be installed in the terminal’s restrooms.

With the redevelopment of the old terminal underway, nearly 80% of flights now operate from the new terminal. While the old terminal was equipped with sanitary vending and disposal machines, passengers have reported their absence in the new facility. Under the “Disha” project, provisions for these amenities have been planned, but their implementation is still pending.

A female passenger who recently traveled through the airport shared her experience, stating that she faced inconvenience due to the absence of these machines. Upon inquiring with the airport’s housekeeping staff, she was directed to the old terminal for the required facilities.

Addressing the concerns Airport authorities stated that around 20–22 sanitary napkin vending machines and an equal number of disposal units will soon be installed in the new terminal’s restrooms to improve the facilities for women passengers.
