The Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) has terminated the services of 14 contract employees following complaints of irregularities filed at the Chief Minister’s Office. The decision was made by PMRDA Commissioner Yogesh Mhase after receiving reports from the Tehsildar and members of the Anti-Encroachment Squad about suspected corruption among these contract workers. The complaints primarily focused on allegations of bribery involving the anti-encroachment team, implicating several contract employees. In response, Commissioner Mhase ordered the former department head to take immediate action against those involved.

Strict Action Ordered

Commissioner Mhase emphasized that all identified employees should be dismissed systematically and prohibited from any future re-employment with the PMRDA. He also called for a thorough investigation to uncover any additional contract engineers who might be involved in corrupt practices, urging that they be reported for further disciplinary measures. Additionally, new employees are to be recruited to fill the vacancies left by those who have been dismissed.

Wealth Accumulation Allegations

Serious allegations have been made against the 14 terminated employees and one Tehsildar, accusing them of amassing significant wealth through corrupt means. It is alleged that each contract employee accumulated between Rs 4 crore to Rs 6 crore, while the Tehsildar is accused of collecting approximately Rs 15 crore. These allegations have prompted further scrutiny and investigation into the matter.
