Pune Police Deploy 126 Teams To Curb Noise Pollution During Ganesh Visarjan
Pune: In preparation for this year’s Ganesh immersion procession, the Pune Police have ramped up efforts to enforce stricter noise pollution regulations. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar announced that 126 teams will be deployed across the city, equipped with noise level meters to ensure compliance with sound limits throughout the procession.
The heightened enforcement follows numerous complaints from last year, particularly concerning loud sound systems used by some Ganesh mandals, which disturbed senior citizens and children. In response, the police will actively monitor sound levels and ensure that mandals adhere to prescribed noise limits.
“Some mandals set up sound barriers that amplify noise levels,” noted Commissioner Kumar. “This year, we are ensuring all mandals follow the sound regulations to prevent excessive noise.”
The Ganesh festival, currently being celebrated with vibrant enthusiasm, has seen strong cooperation from Ganesh mandals in helping maintain order and reducing noise pollution. Commissioner Kumar praised their support and noted that preparations for the immersion procession have been comprehensive. This includes detailed route inspections and coordination with relevant departments to address potential challenges in advance.
“Our goal is to ensure a smooth, well-regulated immersion procession,” said Kumar. “We are confident that this year’s event will proceed without any significant disruptions.”
In addition to noise monitoring, the police have made other safety arrangements, including medical support and route management, to facilitate a seamless and safe immersion experience for the city’s residents. The 126 teams will be stationed at key locations throughout the city to monitor noise levels and promptly address any violations.
