The Regional Transport Office (RTO) Pune has announced a new series for two-wheelers and is now accepting advance applications for attractive registration numbers. The process includes an auction system for those seeking preferred numbers.

Applicants interested in reserving an attractive number for private four-wheeler vehicles must pay a triple fee on August 27, 2024, between 10:30 AM and 02:30 PM at the RTO office. Required documents include a demand draft (DD), proof of address, identity card, and an attested copy of the PAN card. If more than one application is received for the same number, a list will be posted on the office notice board. The auction for these numbers will be held on August 28, 2024, at 4:00 PM in the Hall, and DDs for the auction will be accepted until 02:30 PM.

For two-wheeler owners seeking a preferred number, applications must be submitted on August 28, 2024, during office hours. The auction for these numbers will be held on August 29, 2024, at 4:00 PM. All DDs must be addressed to “R.T.O., Pune,” from a nationalized or scheduled bank in Pune, and must not be older than two months. DDs with incorrect amounts or those submitted without the correct documentation will be rejected.

Only one packet of auction DD per applicant will be accepted. If multiple packets are found from the same applicant for the same number, the application will be canceled. In the event of equal bids for a preferred number, the final decision will be made by drawing lots.

According to Rule 54A of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Rules, 1981, the validity of a reserved preferred registration number is 30 days. The reservation will expire if the vehicle registration process is not completed within this period. The revised process through the NIC portal now allows expired numbers to be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Only vehicle owners residing within the jurisdiction of the Pune RTO are eligible to apply. Applications from outside the jurisdiction or those with incorrect details will be rejected. The charges applicable at the time of application will remain valid throughout the process.
