Pune: School Teacher From Bhekrai Nagar Arrested For Molesting Class IX Student
A disturbing incident of molestation has come to light in a school in the Bhekrai Nagar, Hadapsar area of Pune, where a teacher, Ganesh Kakad, has been accused of harassing a Class IX student. The incident, which took place between July 2024 and August 26, 2024, has sent shockwaves through the community, especially in the wake of the recent Badlapur school sexual assault case.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, Kakad had been making unwanted advances towards the girl, asking for her home address and making lewd comments in class. When the girl ignored him, Kakad began to follow her, offering to drop her home and asking inappropriate questions.
The victim confided in the school’s vice-principal, but instead of taking action, the vice-principal shouted at her and dismissed her complaint, saying “you are the way you are, that’s why everyone sees you like that.”
Undeterred, the girl continued to face harassment from Kakad, who would often chase her and try to talk to her. On August 26, the girl’s mother took her to the Hadapsar police station and filed a complaint.
The police sprang into action, arresting Kakad and registering a case against him under Section 78 of the Indian Judicial Code and Section 12 of the POCSO Act.
The incident has raised questions about safety of school students and the need for stricter measures to protect students from such crimes.
