Pune: Three Schoolgirls missing from Bibwewadi found safe in Kalyan thanks to swift police action
In a dramatic turn of events, the Pune Police have successfully located three missing minor girls who vanished from Shivtej Nagar, Bibwewadi. The girls, aged 12 and two 15-year-olds, were reported missing in the afternoon of September 2, 2024, after last being seen shopping at a local grocery store and then heading towards VIT College road.
Their disappearance triggered an immediate response from the Pune Police, who launched a rigorous search operation. The families of the missing girls initially conducted their own search before enlisting police assistance when their efforts proved unfruitful.
The police’s investigation led them to Ambivali in Kalyan, Thane district, where the girls were eventually found at a roadside eatery. It was revealed that the trio had left home the previous day following a disagreement with their parents over not being allowed smartphones and being urged to focus on their studies.
The initial search efforts, which involved circulating the girls’ photos and questioning their acquaintances, were unable to yield results immediately. However, a breakthrough came when a local informant recognized the girls and alerted the authorities.
Pune Police’s Senior Inspector Mangal Modhave and his team quickly acted on the tip-off, collaborating with Thane’s Khadakpada Police Station. The girls were safely detained and brought back to Bibwewadi, where they clarified that they had simply wandered off without a particular destination in mind.
The successful resolution of this case was the result of coordinated efforts by several key officials. Credit is due to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Police Commissioner Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police R. Raja, Senior Police Inspector Mangal Modhave, Police Inspector Manojkumar Londhe, Assistant Police Inspector Vidya Sawant, Assistant Police Inspector Dhanyakumar Godse, Police Sub-Inspector Ashok Yevale, and constables Vishal Jadhav, Pratik Karanje, and Varsha Thombre. Their combined efforts ensured the safe return of the girls and provided significant relief to their families.
