The last four days have seen a lot of rainfall in Lonavala and the neighboring areas. Numerous low-lying areas have experienced severe flooding as a result of the heavy rains.

A few visitors had come to this location to take the opportunity of the rain and go sightseeing. However, the region experienced significant flooding as a result of the heavy rain.

Some visitors were stuck in the region as floodwaters encircled the houses. Among the affected areas were the Malavli and Karla regions, where 30 tourists found themselves trapped in bungalows. After receiving information about the situation, a rescue team was promptly dispatched to the scene. The Shivdurg team in Lonavala played a crucial role in rescuing these tourists. Sunil Gaikwad of Shivdurg Mitra provided details about the rescue operation.

The tourists inside the bungalows were initially unaware of the cloudburst-like rain happening outside. It wasn’t until they ventured out for a walk that they realized the extent of the flooding, with water surrounding their bungalows. This unexpected situation caused panic among the tourists, who began shouting for help. Local citizens and the police quickly informed the rescue team about the dire situation.

The rescue team acted swiftly, arriving at the scene and safely rescuing all 30 tourists trapped in the bungalows. The quick response and efficient actions of the rescue team ensured that everyone was brought to safety without any injuries.

Currently, the intensity of the rain in the Lonavala area is increasing. The administration has issued a warning to tourists, advising them to exercise caution while visiting. The ongoing heavy rains have heightened the risk of further flooding, making it imperative for visitors to stay alert and follow safety guidelines provided by local authorities.
