According to police officials, officers were on routine patrol in the Wanawadi area when they received a tip-off that country-made liquor was being transported in a vehicle. Acting on the information, the police team intercepted the car and conducted a search.

The accused have been identified as Liyakat Rohit Abbasi (32), a resident of Dhobrawadi in Sopannagar, Ghorpadi, and Sameer Sanjay Rathod (23), a resident of Shindwane Kaleshwar in Haveli taluka.

During preliminary questioning, Abbasi reportedly told investigators that he had purchased the liquor from Rathod on the instructions of another individual. Police suspect the liquor was intended for sale during the Holi and Dhulivandan celebrations, when the demand for alcohol typically increases.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Bhausaheb Patil and Crime Inspector Sangeeta Jadhav, along with a team of officers from Wanawadi police station.

Police have seized the illicit liquor and initiated further investigation to identify other individuals involved in the illegal trade. Authorities are also examining the supply chain to determine the source of the liquor and whether a larger network is operating in the area.
