Pune, February 26, 2026: The detection team of Kalepadal Police Station has arrested two suspects in connection with a house burglary in the Hadapsar area and recovered stolen valuables worth ₹2.83 lakh.

According to police, the burglary took place between January 31 and February 2, 2026, at a locked residence in Tarawade Vasti, Mohammadwadi, Hadapsar. The complainant, Gangeshwar Yadav, reported that unidentified persons had forced open the door latch and decamped with gold and silver ornaments along with cash, collectively valued at approximately ₹4 lakh. Based on his complaint filed on February 2, a case (Crime No. 37/2026) was registered at Kalepadal Police Station.

Acting on the instructions of Senior Police Inspector Mansing Patil and investigating officer Police Sub-Inspector Vinayak Gurav, the detection team launched a probe. Police Constable Pratik Lahigude conducted technical analysis, while officers Atul Pandharkar and Giriraj Jagdale gathered intelligence through local informants.

Following a tip-off, police laid a trap and apprehended two suspects identified as Vaibhav alias Babya Sanjay Gaikwad and Prashant alias Chikya Bharat Kasbe, both residents of Sathe Nagar, Tarawade Vasti, Pune. During sustained interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime.

Police recovered 15.1 grams of gold ornaments worth ₹2,18,890 and 220.6 grams of silver jewellery valued at ₹61,740, along with an Oppo mobile phone worth ₹3,000. The seized items include gold necklaces, earrings, beads, and multiple silver ornaments such as anklets, rings and chains.

Both accused are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway under the supervision of PSI Gurav.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr Rajkumar Shinde (Zone 6) and Assistant Commissioner of Police Anuradha Udmale (Hadapsar Division), with the team from Kalepadal Police Station playing a key role in the successful detection of the crime.
