Pune city experienced its first chill on November 19, 2024 when the minimum temperature dropped to 12.9 degrees in Shivaji Nagar. The other parts of the Pune city also experienced similar drop in the temperature The NDA area in Pune recorded 11.6 degrees C, Baramati 11.8 deg C, Pashan 13.3 deg C, while Hadapsar, Chinchwad, Lonavala, Koregaon Park, Wadgaonsheri, Magarpatta, Lavale recorded temperatures above 15 degrees C.

Dr. Anupam Kashyapi, former Head Weather Forecaster and Crop Advisor at the India Meteorological Department, remarked, “We expect a gradual drop in minimum temperatures by 4-5°C across North-West, Central, East, and Western India, including North-Central Maharashtra, by November 22. With moisture levels depleting, as seen in satellite imagery, and a clear night sky facilitating the escape of long-wave radiation, northerly winds are likely to penetrate, bringing a drop in daytime temperatures as well. This signals the season’s first chill in nighttime temperatures, even in Pune. The peak dip is anticipated around November 21-22, so keep your light woolens ready.”

The temperature is likely to drop further in the next coming days.
