Fresh attention has turned toward an older legal dispute involving actor Ranbir Kapoor after activist Vijay Kumbhar revealed that Shital Tejwani — the prime accused in the Mundhwa land scam — had previously dragged the Bollywood star to court over a flat in Pune. The revelation surfaces just days after Tejwani’s arrest in the high-stakes land deal linked to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth Pawar.

Kumbhar stated that Tejwani had filed a compensation case against Kapoor in 2018 regarding his Trump Tower flat in Pune. The complaint stemmed from Kapoor allegedly removing tenants from the property before their rental term expired. Tejwani accused the actor of doing so without prior notice and demanded damages amounting to Rs 50.40 lakh.

Sharing details of her legal history, Kumbhar said, “Ranbir Kapoor likely has no idea how many civil disputes Sheetal Tejwani has been caught up in. It’s hardly shocking that she seems well-supported by land mafias and political figures.” He added, “For clarification, Sheetal Tejwani — also known as Sheetal S. Suryawanshi and now arrested in the Mundhwa land scam — is the same person who sued Ranbir in 2018 for Rs 50.40 lakh over the Trump Towers flat. The case is still stuck at the evidence stage. The next hearing is scheduled for January 5, 2026.”

Her involvement in disputes predates that matter as well; back in 2016, she was accused of cheating a school owner in Pune.

Tejwani was arrested last week, becoming the first person taken into custody in the controversial Mundhwa land deal. She is accused of attempting to oversee a Rs 300 crore transaction for a 40-acre plot involving Amadea Enterprises LLP — a firm owned by Parth Pawar and his partner Digvijay Patil. Tejwani acted as the power of attorney for 272 previous landowners during this attempted sale.

Investigators later confirmed that the land was not privately owned at all but belongs to the government and is leased to the Botanical Survey of India.

Besides Tejwani, the police have also named Digvijay Patil and suspended tehsildar Suryakant Yeole as accused. Yeole allegedly abused his position by issuing eviction notices to the Botanical Survey of India to facilitate the illegal deal. The case includes charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust, and several other offences.

Police officials clarified earlier that Parth Pawar has not been made an accused, as his name does not appear anywhere on the sale deed. Tejwani, arrested on December 3, was remanded to police custody until December 11 by a Pune court.
